The Football League have now announced the Match Day officials who will take charge of Aston Villa’s upcoming fixture against Reading.

Steve Bruce’s side host Reading on Tuesday April 3 at Villa Park. Kick off 7.45pm.

Referee: Darren Bond
Assistant Referees: Matthew McGrath and Matt Foley
Fourth Official: Ollie Yates

We now turn to Vital Villa’s resident refereeing expert sirdennis for his unique insight into the appointed Referee.

“Before I comment on this excuse for an official, let me say that I had no problem with the ref against Hull.

Before anyone thinks I am not well, I will say that the linesman who ran up and down on our side was the worst flagman that has ever taken part in a game. 4 or 5 times in the second half Kodjia in particular was wrestled to the ground with the lino about 2 yards away and each time he couldn’t extract his fllag from his rear end to signal a free kick. Simply baffling and incompetent to a very high level.

This leads me to think that tomorrows officials won’t be much better and I am prepared for another evening of mystifying decisions and staggering ineptitude.”

Bond hasn’t overseen a single Aston Villa game this season so I’m not sure if that will be a help or a hindrance given our current form and what appears to be an impending slip in the play-off positions in the table, but across the season he’s taken in 35 games so far this year, showing 118 yellows and six reds.

Having drawn the line on back to back defeats with the draw against Hull, hopefully Steve Bruce can get us back on track and rack up another victory.
