The Football League have now announced the Match Day officials that will take charge of Aston Villa’s upcoming fixture against Hull City.

Steve Bruce’s side travel to former haunt Hull City on Saturday March 31 for the game at the KCOM Stadium and the match commences at 5.30pm to accommodate the Sky Sports TV cameras.

Referee: Andy Davies
Assistant Referees: Geoffrey Russell and Timothy Wood
Fourth Official: Stephen Martin

We now turn to Vital Villa’s resident refereeing expert sirdennis for his unique insight into the appointed Referee.

“Andy Davies. Pah!

He may have done alright for us against Bristol City, but I remember him in the Wolves game and he gave comfortably the worst performance I have seen at Wolves this season. The thing that worries me is when these buffoons get on the telly, they then think the cameras are there to watch them and try and get noticed. He had better behave himself on Saturday.”

He’s overseen Aston Villa games against Wolverhampton Wanderers (a) and Bristol City (h) so far this season, showing three yellows and zero reds but as sirdennis rightly points out, a referee can be prone to strange decisions when presented with a national audience. However, given how Villa perform on the television (I can’t be the only one nervous everytime we’re selected) I’m not sure seeing a flurry of yellows or reds across the 90 minutes should be our main concern.

Especially when you factor in our last two showings and defeats.
