Alex McLeish has said the booing and the jeers are hard to take, but he refuses to criticise the fans for venting their feelings and he just wants us to get behind the team.

Speaking to Sky Sports after today’s bore draw with Wigan, McLeish said of the boos, jeers and chants such as ‘you don’t know what you’re doing’:

‘Nobody likes it, I can’t say it’s water off a duck’s back. I’m not going to get into a spat with my own supporters, I need those guys. I have a great challenge here, it’s probably one of the toughest jobs in the league but I am up for it. I still believe we will prosper.’

Makes a nice change a manager not dismissing the fans, or twisting the chants onto the players instead of accepting they are for them…but he’s the only one who can change his fortunes.

He says he still believes we will prosper, but it takes injuries for him to shuffle the unperforming pack. We now lose Keane and potentially Bent for the next match so how will he react?
