Despite the deep frustration and annoyance at Aston Villa’s defeat at the weekend to Liverpool, there were certainly plenty of positives that fans could take from the game and the performance of Trezeguet was certainly one of those.
The 25-year-old Egyptian arguably had his best game for us on the day given his work rate and engine, and he topped it off nicely as he opened his club account following his summer arrival and gave us the advantage on the day.
The goal itself wasn’t a worldie, but with the confidence shot he must have took from his performance on the day and the praise he’s received, it should only bode well for the future as he continues to settle into life at the club.
🇪🇬 @Trezeguet is the first Egyptian player to score a Premier League goal for Aston Villa 👏
It also means players from 32 different nations have now scored in the competition for us. #PL #AVFC pic.twitter.com/AW0nGBvfta

The goal was, however, a new entry into our history books as he became the first Egyptian in our history to score in the Premier League and whilst Trez again took the praise, most fans on social media seemed intrigued to work out who the other 32 were.
