Elphick Linked To Birmingham & Sunderland

The ongoing speculation linking Tommy Elphick with a move across the City doesn’t seem to be slowing down and now Sunderland have entered the mix.

The 29 year old arrived from Bournemouth last summer and took the captain’s armband but lost his place and the skipper honour that moved onto James Chester.

With the arrival of John Terry and an already overloaded squad, it’s often been reported this summer that Elphick would be moving on and Harry Redknapp has been a known suitor.

Sky Sports reported yesterday that Birmingham continued to be interested in trying to do a deal for him, but new Sunderland manager Simon Grayson had become an interested party.

It’s a typical ‘Sky sources understands’ with very little in terms of bones and depth to the story, but it largely serves as repackaging the original Birmingham rumours with the introduction of Sunderland’s supposed interest.
