With Aston Villa bypassing West Bromwich Albion and Derby County as we took Play-Off Final success at Wembley to secure promotion from the Championship back into the Premier League, the summer transfer rumour mill has long speculated that we may have an interest in Leeds United’s Kalvin Phillips.
The reports have bubbled along for a few weeks but it seemed mainly fan led with supporters on both sides on social media reacting with delight or horror to the suggestions, but the Telegraph have now decided to run with the story, and have claimed that we are ready to open negotiations with a £14million offer for the impressive 23-year-old.
With us letting Mile Jedinak and Glenn Whelan leave this summer, Phillips certainly ticks the boxes when it comes to the defensive midfield role and the Telegraph even suggests we’ve done some spying of our own and we had him watched quite a few times last year, which would imply we’ve done our homework on him.
I’m not the only one who feels he’d be a great addition, although it’s said Leeds would hold out for at least £20million for their Academy graduate.
That's going right in my basket
