Saying: Since apparently my expectation of a midtable finish is ‘unrealistic’ and could be ‘damaging’ to the new manager and the club, I guess I want to see what you all are expecting next season. Base your considerations on the fact that we have a 30 million pound transfer budget. I’m not even putting in the option for top 4, as I doubt anyone in their right mind could see us up there next season.
At the moment the poll says:
Push for Europe (5th – 8th) 30 Votes – [18.07%]
Mid Table (9th-13th) 126 Votes – [75.9%]
Relegation Battle (14th-17th 6 Votes – [3.61%]
Relegation (18th-20th) 4 Votes – [2.41%]
Prepared: I expect nothing but for us to now try and win every game we play. The rest will take care of itself providing we can bring in some ambitious players willing to work for Lambert.
Plastic Villan: We should be pushing for Europa league and causing trouble in the cups. We’re bigger than Newcastle and only slightly smaller than Spuds with room to grow. But I’m in no hurry. If it takes a little while to get it together I’m happy as long as it’s coming together.
Villan of the North: I expect us to try to win every game and for us to win more than we lose. That sounds like a good starting point to me.
The Fear: I’d not go so far as 5th, but 6-8th is realistic with the right manager and a bit of spending in the summer. Get Bent on form, get Zoggy working right, have Ireland totally buzzing and bring in a few more to supplement. Why not?!
BlackcountryVillan: Top ten, a decent cup run and some decent football and I’ll be happy. Lets not forget Houllier got us 9th and we seemed to be crap for 90% of that season and the likes of Blues have finished 9th in the past with crap football. That’s not too much to ask for and could easily be achieved.
Eaton_thevillafan: A decent cup run as well would be nice! Realistically? a good shot at top 10 at least.
steff_the_villan: The same as every season, I expect to see our boys fight for the Villa till the moment that final whistle blows, that’s all I ask.
And the ever entertaining BEEFY: League and cup double. Anything less would be yet another abject failure and heads should roll. NUUUUUUURRRRRSSSSEEE
