According to reports, Aston Villa managed to agree a professional deal for Mungo Bridge, beating out competition from AC Milan who were looking to bring the youngster to the San Siro. His immediate future will remain at Villa Park, however, and now he’ll be tasked with the challenged to make the step-up to the first-team. But who is Bridge? Why are Milan so keen to sign him?

The 18-year-old represents Villa’s u18 side but has featured for the u23s on one occasion and will eventually move up when he’s too old to play for the youth side. Bridge has made 18 appearances for the u18s, operating at both left-back and centre-back. His form in the youth setup caught the attention of Milan who fought the Midlands outfit for his signature.

Now Bridge has signed a professional contract, however, Milan would be forced into making a substantial payment for his services. The defender could have a bright future under the right guidance and may eventually solve Villa’s left-back crisis in years to come. The Englishman is still a raw talent, but he might be one to watch moving forward.
