In an article in The Sun Villa right back has warned fans that the club isn’t too big to go down.

29 year old Delaney, in a refreshingly honest and up front interview, said ‘The table doesn’t lie. We’re down in the bottom four and probably rightly so. I know a lot of teams down there will say they’re too good to go down or shouldn’t be down there, but I don’t personally believe that. It’s results that count and we’ve not picked up enough results. But when the international players get back, we’ll be fully focused on the Sunderland game to put it right.’

He added that the team are going to have to do some long hard thinking ‘Both for myself and the team, we needed this break to get ourselves back together, look at ourselves, realise what’s going wrong and start putting it right.’

So the fightback starts at the weekend against Sunderland. A real six pointer. We simply cannot afford to drop points at the Stadium of Light, I’m sure everyone at the club knows that, I’m positive all the fans know it. We have some very tricky games in December, so 3 points is the only acceptable result on Saturday. We then have Charlton at home, tough trips to a resurgent Newcastle and the always difficult to play against Bolton, an easy tie against Manchester United at Villa Park followed by another six pointer on Boxing Day against Everton and an end of December trip to Fulham. All sounds so easy if you say it quickly!
