Aston Villa’s Australian youngster Jordan Lyden hasn’t had the best few years with injuries hitting him hard after he impressed many when he was drafted into our first team squad back in the 2015/16 Premier League campaign.
The now 22-year-old was far from the finished product given his age and he still had plenty to learn, but lots of fans appreciated his tenacity and fight.
Having worked his way back to proper fitness, during the August transfer window he headed out to Boundary Park and Oldham Athletic in the hopes of getting some proper game time once again at a more competitive League Two level (when compared to Under 23 games) so he could start playing catch up and we could reassess what his future might hold for us.
He had to be patient as he didn’t make an appearance for them until October but now he’s got himself up and running it doesn’t appear he’s looking back, as following this weekend’s action, he bagged his senior maiden goal in his sixth appearance for them.

Lyden’s effort was the one from pretty much the halfway line – quite a tidy effort.
Great win! Shocking first half but fantastic second, that Lyden finish was clean as you like ???????????? #oafc
