Forest manager Billy Davies has said he is still interested in taking Shorey if his Premiership aim fails.

Speaking to the local press Davies insisted that a left back was a priority for the club and he is determined to strengthen the team overall so they could improve on last season’s final position.

Shorey was well received whilst on loan at the City Ground and Davies has long been interested in securing his services permanently but Nicky himself has hopes of securing a move to another Premiership team.

His loan spell at Fulham many believed included an option for a permanent move but with Roy Hodgson moving to Liverpool it’s unclear if Fulham will now be taking up that option or furthering their own interest.

Quoted in the Nottingham Evening Post Davies said:

‘If Nicky does not get a Premier League club and there is a possibility that we can do something, either on loan or permanently, then until that door closes on us, he remains an option.’
