Darren Bent could well be on track for a return to first team action when we face Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Paul Lambert has spoken to the Official Site to give us Villans a little injury update.

On Bent:

‘Darren will be fine, he got a thigh injury and he will not be too far away from Saturday, depending on how he’s feeling.’

On Gabby:

‘Gabby is a bit longer. It’s his knee and he will miss the start of the season.’

Gabby is expected to be out for four to five weeks sadly.

On Marc Albrighton and Richard Dunne:

‘Richard will miss the stat of the season. Marc will miss the start of the season. It’s a blow but that’s football, you just have to pick yourself up and go again.’

There’s no actual timeline on Albie, but Dunne is expected to be out for six to eight weeks following his groin operation.

It’s not all doom and gloom for Lambert though, he knows that it’s a chance for another player to step up and stake a claim, and he also reiterated all he wants from the players is 100% effort during games.

‘I have great belief in the players. They will give it everything they’ve got and at the end of the day that’s all you can ask.’

It’s also pretty much all we as fans want to see, see the players sweating with pride and not giving up, not letting their heads drop and giving their all irrespective of whether it’s a bad day at the office or not.

Effort goes a long way.
