Former Villans Pick Out One Man For Praise After Spurs Showing

|

I would imagine there are few Aston Villa fans who wouldn’t have had significant praise for the performance of Tyrone Mings following our Premier League return against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

We’ll play better, we’ll be sharper and our newbies will settle in over the coming weeks, but there was plenty to be impressed about when it came to our organisation and commitment on the day, and ultimately a couple of avoidable errors proved costly as they took an eventual 3-1 victory.

But we won’t play a side like Spurs every week and results against the top six aren’t going to define our season, it’s how we do against others that will determine our fate.

With so many positives though, Mings’ step up to the Premier League again was a huge plus point, despite him not actually making a tackle according to Whoscored.

With plenty of praise coming in from the fans, former Villans Stan Collymore and Ian Taylor were left seriously impressed with the 26-year-old – and his partnership with Bjorn Engels was also incredibly promising for me.
