According to the Daily Star today, Bolton and Villa are in a war…. (huh, what is it good for? Absolutely nothing, say it again)… sorry… for Tottenham and England goalkeeper Paul Robinson who apparently is being shipped out of White Hart Lane for a fee of around £5million. Hmmm, Villa or Bolton, wonder which he’ll choose?

The Sun say that Liverpool have upped their offer by £2million to £12m for Gareth Barry. Reports elsewhere say that Villa won’t accept any less than £16million, which is the price that Liverpool have put on their midfielder Alonso. They also price Peter Crouch at £15million and he only has one year left on his contract, so Rafa mini me Tom Jones look-alike, put that in your pipe and smoke it! The £12m bid, according to the report, has been rejected immediately. The report goes on to say that Barry has been offered £70 000 a week by Villa but that Barry has set his heart on Champions League football. What, sitting on the bench for Liverpool whilst they play CL football with their mad rotation system?

Some reports are saying that Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is playing hardball over the Scott Carson fee. Err, yes… and? Liverpool are more than entitled to price the goalkeeper at £10million if they wish. Villa – nor anyone else unless they are totally mad will pay that but that is a decision for the Anfield lot and them alone. Although with even the goalkeeper himself admitting he is over priced and that he is still young and has lots to learn, you do have to wonder at a £10million valuation.

Rafa on the price tag for Carson in the Liverpool Echo, Echo, Echo: ‘It is a matter between the clubs. We agreed the fee with Aston Villa last year. The fee has been there for one season so to talk about the fee now is not correct.’ Adding ‘We agreed with Martin O’Neill and that was the situation.’

Fair enough, we won’t buy him at that they won’t sell him for less, move on. It is a load of rubbish to say Liverpool are playing hardball or that Carson is too expensive for Villa in the headlines of other reports though. The fact of the matter – and the player agrees – he is over priced. I’m not totally sure he is worth half that in truth, but then again, what the hell do I know!!!! Please don’t answer that, I do have feelings you know!
