Running well behind today, but Brad Friedel has rubbished talk that a proposed move to Fulham was the straw that broke O’Neill’s back yesterday.

The forum was rife, as was the press, with rumour, innuendo, accusation and blame yesterday…to be fair not really that much different today either, following the shock and badly timed departure of Martin O’Neill.

The press were as beside themselves as the fans when news broke with the ‘facts’ of the resignation hinging on everything from Randy wouldn’t let Monny have all the Milner money, Monny wouldn’t reduce wages, Randy was selling people behind his back, Monny couldn’t sign who he wanted, the move to Albion by Nicky Shorey was more than the manager could take, and finally, although not lastly, that we’d apparently agreed to a £2 million of goalkeeper Brad Friedel to Fulham.

You’d stumble across less **** mucking a pigsty!

Laying this particular journalistic licence to rest, Friddy P said today to Sky Sports News:

‘That story was made up. I really don’t know where that came from.’

Friedel adds he’s had no contact from, or with Fulham and neither had he had any discussion with Monny about Fulham.

In amongst all the rumours about players celebrating, Friedel added the news had come as quite a shock to him.

‘We are all surprised, training was as normal and I was sitting at home with the kiddies when the news came up on television.’

Carlos Cuellar was equally as surprised when he tweeted, or bleated, or whatever that thing is:

‘I know nothing about the gaffer leaved the club,I know just say the sky news :-(‘

Going to be interesting to find out why Martin thought 5 days before the start of the season was the appropriate time to go, Randy and Faulkner look relaxed as Randy left on Sunday and obviously O’Neill gave no hints during the training session.

Whether we ever find out the whole truth though is another matter.
