Aston Villa closed out our pre-season schedule this summer with a trip to Germany to face Dynamo Dresden.

A brace of goals from young winger Andre Green gave us a 2-1 victory on the day as we bounced back from West Ham United disappointment but our hosts did find the net as Jed Steer made a little error that caught everyone’s attentions.

It was another reasonable run out from a fitness point of view though and that’s the main thing and importantly for Villa fans both James Chester and Jack Grealish featured from the start of the game. Jonathan Kodjia was missing though as he picked up a knock in the previous friendly and didn’t travel.

We did have to come from behind in the game though and we went into halftime with the 1-0 deficit, so for confidence purposes, coming back in the second 45 will help especially given the summers’ turmoil.

All eyes to the important one now – Hull City a week Monday with our opener selected by Sky Sports and moved to the stupid Monday slot.

Steer, Hutton (Bree, 77), Chester, Jedinak, Taylor, Elmohamady (Knibbs, 77), Bjarnason (Gardner, 77), Whelan (Hourihane, 70), Grealish (Lansbury, 77), Green (De Laet, 70), Adomah.

Unused subs:
