Yesterday evening manager Steve Bruce appeared from his meeting with our new owners Naseef Sawiris and Wes Edens and promptly put his cap back on as we were set to face West Ham United in our latest pre-season friendly.

With so much going on at Villa it’s easy to forget we’ve had a reasonable pre-season so far but West Ham were our hardest test this month. The positives though come in the team line-up and the knowledge it’s about fitness at this stage.

West Ham are on a high with the dildo’s spending on new players and bringing in Manuel Pellegrini so we really shouldn’t read to much into this.

However, there should be a special mention for Mr Snodgrass whose either sending us a message or just taking the pee!

Bruce went with a mixed side at the Banks’s Stadium but it was great to see Jake Doyle-Hayes make the pitch and the goal would’ve done Andre Green the world of good as well.

Steer, Bree, Elphick (Elmohamady 58), Chester (Jedinak 58), Hutton (Taylor 80), Adomah (De Laet 60), Whelan (Gardner 74), Doyle-Hayes (Lansbury 58), Hourihane (Jedinak 58), Grealish (Green 74), Kodjia (Knibbs 74).

Unused Subs:

Sarkic, Taylor.

They were sharper though, but the performance wasn’t too bad in my eyes.
