Gabby Going Under The Knife

Gabby Agbonlahor will definitely miss our clash against Spurs, and then faces a race to be fit for the home clash against Chelsea as he’s set to undergo a minor operation on Monday.

After a host of injuries so far this campaign, it has culminated in a troublesome groin injury and he and the club have decided that minor surgery is the correct way forward here to get him back fit and firing on all cylinders in the future.

The surgery is set for Monday evening, after Gabby limped out of training this morning and looks set to face at least 2 weeks on the sidelines.

With luck he should be back in contention for the Chelsea match, but if not he should definitely be back in time for our trip to the Stadium of Light the following weekend.

Speaking to the Official Site Gerard Houllier said:

‘Gabby is not available, he will have a minor operation on Monday evening.

‘He left training this morning and just thought it was too painful. Hopefully the operation will heal that.’

Obviously this means Gabby won’t be in contention for the England qualifier against Montenegro on Oct 12 either.

John Carew however has been passed fit for the Spurs clash following his back problems.
