Martin O’Neill has described Brad Jnr as a ‘fantastic goalkeeper in the making’ following his penalty exploits in our Carling Cup clash.

Speaking to SSN, O’Neill said there was ‘no question’ as to whether Guzan was going to make it in the years to come, the Sunderland performance was merely a glimpse of what we should come to expect.

‘That’s why we spent so long trying to sign him. We chased it and chased it and I think the reasons are there for all to see.’

Monny however didn’t comment on whether Brad Jnr would get the call for the match against Everton. Like normal he remained coy and praise Brad Snr, and discussed how ‘great’ it was to have such competition between the sticks.

Friedel has done little wrong this season in reality, and it would be harsh to drop him…but it would be nice to see what Guzan can do given a run in the squad.

Keepers sink or swim, so far he’s more than treading water.

That’s enough pointless metaphors and the like for today, just be thankful I didn’t attempt alliteration!
