We asked if Gareth Barry was the answer to England’s problem left side of midfield following comments from David O’Leary last week suggesting that the Aston Villa midfielder could force his way back into the international arena.

O’Leary said following the Newcastle game: ‘If he does that consistently, that’s the standard that will take him into the England team as a left-sided player. He can’t do it as a one-off but, if he’s doing that consistently, he’ll do it in the England team.’

It seems that over half of the Villa fans who voted agree. 18% said yes without hesitation, a further and decisive 46% said yes but only if he had get more consistency. 20% thought the former England U21 player was great for Villa but not an international player and 16% said he wasn’t even good enough for the Villa team.

The current poll is asking what your favourite strike partnership is, the current standings have 41% saying it doesn’t matter because they get no supply!
