Get Behind Jlloyd Samuel

Vital Villa did an article on Jlloyd Samuel yesterday Jlloyd has nothing to prove and at the end I said: ‘I just hope the boo boys get off the players back. I have never been able to figure why home fans would boo their own player, exactly what do they think it will achieve?’

Seems Villa boss David O’Leary picked up on exactly the same negative vibes and has urged the Villa faithful to get behind the left back.

Wilfred Bouma is injured and Gareth Barry is suspended so Jlloyd is a certain starter.

O’Leary told the official site: ‘Fans giving player stick doesn’t help anyone. It has never helped anyone. You need the home fans to encourage the players.’

I’ve got to agree, what is it with fans heckling their own players? Have a go at the opposition for goodness sake!

Jlloyd Samuel said of the FA Cup fourth round tie: ‘It’s a special competition to play in, and I’m fortunate enough to have played in a team that got all the way to the final. I was an unused sub against Chelsea in the 2000 final and it was an incredible experience. Obviously it would have been better if I’d come on, but just to actually go to a final at that age was amazing. The hype around it was magnificent.’

But also says the players aren’t getting carried away and are fully focused on today’s game against Port Vale:

‘By rights we should win the game. We are two divisions above them and we should have too much for them. But if we’re not right mentally then we’ll be in trouble. For a lot of the Port Vale players the game will be the biggest of their lives and they’ll be well up for it, and we’ve got to want it as much as them. If we are right in the head though, then we should be able to out think them on the pitch.’

Come on you Lions!
