Aston Villa suffered their first pre-season loss on Wednesday evening as we faced West Ham United at Walsall’s Banks’s Stadium.

The game ended with a 3-1 defeat and Andre Green got our late consolation on the day but stepping away from the game, the result and the fitness benefits from the 90 minutes, the other headline from the day was the speedy return of former loanee Robert Snodgrass.
The 30-year-old more than played his part in our run to the Wembley Play-Off final with 41 starting appearances across 2017/18 and he even had two substitute showings. Those games saw a return of seven goals and 14 assists and Villa fans have long been hopeful that a deal could be done that would see his return to B6.
His performance in the game certainly did those calls no harm at all as his goal on the day and his acknowledgement of the fans and former colleagues simply kick-started another round of calls for us to somehow do a deal with the London side despite Financial Fair Play constraints.
