Getting Back To His Best

Jlloyd Samuel says on his icons website that he thinks he is getting back to his best and that he has relied on his family to help him through the hard times this season.

‘I feel I’m getting back to my best. I’m enjoying my football and it’s just nice to be playing regularly again’

Jlloyd has suffered an up and down season due to injuries and the added competition from Wilfred Bouma and ended up the target for some of the Villa boo boys. However he looks to have gained some of his old confidence that not only earnt him a place in the Villa side, but made him an automatic choice. Some fans have lost faith in his ability, but it seems he is out to prove them wrong. Personally I think he is a great player when he is on form and he is far from at the peak of his game. He certainly links up well with Gareth Barry on the left and has got a cutting edge pass when the tactics allow him to go forward.

He continued: ‘On the odd occasion when I have got a bit frustrated I’ve had my family to fall back on and they’ve all been great. My relatives have been up from London to visit me quite a bit, while my partner has been very supportive. She’s great. And I’ve also had my little boy to keep me occupied and he always makes me realise how lucky I am.’

Adding the footballing cliché:

‘you’re only as good as your last game and we need to get a result or all our good work of the last few weeks will be forgotten about. You always have to keep proving yourself as a player and as a team. We’re still looking over our shoulders a bit in the Premiership so it’s important we beat those teams around us, one of which is Newcastle. It’s not going to be easy.’

‘But their loss has been our gain and he’s been one of our outstanding players this season. He’s got a lot of skill, his enthusiasm is infectious and he’s full of energy.

‘And what I like about him is that if things aren’t going well for him he never lets his head drop. He always gives 100 per cent and keeps coming back for more.’
