He`s going to Fulham. No he isn`t, he`s going to Newcastle. No, wait a minute, Darren Bent`s going to Hull!

The Mirror say that Steve Bruce is looking for a proven goalscorer and has targeted Darren Bent.

Good choice in my humble. The bloke, with the right service, scores.

Villa apparently want around £6 million as we`ve mentioned before.

The Mirror quote a ‘source` as saying the asking price is fine. Steve Bruce signed Bent for Sunderland when he was the boss there.

‘Hull know they need to boost their fire-power going into the top flight, and Brucey would love to bring Darren to Humberside.’

Mat Kendrick says the signing of Danish striker Nicklas Helenius is all but done and in an interesting interview (see: www.birminghammail.co.uk with Danish football correspondent Michael Qureshi.

Is he ready for the Premier League?

This is a difficult one, because I don`t want it to sound like he won`t be a success in the Premier League. He could well be. He has the attributes and I hope he does well.

It is just that Villa fans should not expect a ready-made Premier League striker straight away. We haven`t seen him tested at the highest level yet and it might have been better for him to develop playing in somewhere like the Dutch league first. It will suit him and Villa if they let him learn slowly rather than putting too much pressure on his shoulders.

It will be really interesting to see how he gets on against defenders like Vincent Kompany and Nemanja Vidic.

He has potential, but he has lots to learn and needs to develop his physique and all-round game. I don`t think he is quite as ready for the Premier League as Jores Okore yet.

This is my ‘worry` unless we do add experience. We are, again, buying all potential. Great for the future but the HERE AND THE NOW also have to be catered for. They weren`t last season and we very nearly went down.
