Juan Pablo Angel has completed his move to Major League Soccer side New York Red Bulls and has therefore brought to an his top level playing career!

The 31-year-old striker will be playing with former Manchester City midfielder Claudio Reyna.

Not sure why we let a player leave on a free but hey ho, it isn’t my money is it!!??

Good luck Juan.

  • Goodbye Juan, I will never forget your enigmatic goal celebrations and some of the important goals you have scored for us. Chelsea – Carling Cup springs to mind as a very memorable moment.

  • 40k a week is why he has been given a chance to go elsewhere on a free!
i’d invest it in our youth by securing Gardner!
Nice of the club to do that as he can go anywhere he wants to.

  • yes fatloser, thanks mate, I’d misread. Have changed…! I’ll miss Angel, frustrating maybe, but on his day, he was great!

  • The cull has started in one way sad to see Juan go as he wore his heart on his sleeve and gave is all, but strikers are paid to score goals, goals win games and games win trophies! Will always remember his first goal a header at the near post, the whole Holte was willing him to score and when it went in I ended 5 seats to the left and halfway down the steps..Good luck mate.

  • I think he tried his best at all times and has scored crucial goals for us. I might even go and watch a game now he is here.

  • thank you for your loyalty. when everyone was moaning and wanted out, you stood up to be counted. you never spoke out of term, never went to the papers to have a cheap swipe and no matter your form, you always did your best. you are a model proffessional and we will still sing your name as we do with all the villa favories. all the best to you and your family from the holte end.
Juan pablo angel, theres only juan pablo angel

  • Juan pablo Aaaan gel. There’s only Juan Pablo Angel. Good luck. Gone but never to be forgotten

  • Good move for him, and the way the dollar stacks up against the pound right now he wont be going short of any meals as he moves stateside. I wish the guy well.

  • Living in New York, I’ve been trying to ignore Red Bull (formerly the MetroStars) for a long time now. But looks like I have to start crossing the river over into New Jersey to start cheering on Angel. What a guy. Never a bad word from his mouth.

  • lol too right spit-fire, i was thinking the same thing when i wrote what i did in the good luck thread, but still ill miss him like hell, weve all developed that soft spot loyalty to him cos he always gave all he could. God bless him and im glad we got to have him when he was in his peak even after his river plate days. Who will take the prestigious Number 9 now? Angel did a great job taking over Dublin, but now, maybe a new big signing?
