Tuesday evening’s Championship Play-Off Semi-Final action between Aston Villa and West Bromwich Albion was certainly a tasty affair once again, but I don’t think it’s unfair to say that many fans would’ve had Jed Steer down as their Man of the Match for his match winning antics in the penalty shoot out at the end of the tie.

With a few wobbles during regular time as tensions rose, that can be forgiven as Steer has massively proven himself in the second half of the season having proved his fitness at Charlton Athletic, and the 26-year-old could, in fact, be in line for two promotion winning medals this year given his efforts.

The West Brom doubleheader and shoot out reminded me of Tranmere Rovers all those years ago, some may agree, others not so, but in saving their first two efforts, Steer put the pressure on massively and it counted as we booked our place at Wembley.

One image doing the rounds summed things up for plenty as they praise him on an individual basis.

Skipper Jack went further, although the ‘both hands’ crack may have been a step too far! Steer deserves all the credit he gets after that, but for anyone doubting how Jack has grown into the captain’s role, that’s a perfect example for me.
