Saturday’s Premier League clash saw Aston Villa make the trip up to the Etihad Stadium to face Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side, and whilst few backed us for victory, it was the performance most of us were looking for.
At points we played some decent stuff, at others, we were again reminded about the improvements we need to make and obviously City better dominated the game, yet they weren’t really creating much. The main talking point from the opening 45 minutes was John Stones running around with the ball in his hands, yet amazingly, VAR didn’t see it as a handball.
The less said about some of the referee’s decisions is probably for the better as well.
Second half, City took a quick 1-0 advantage after a long punt down the pitch worked out for them. VAR again involved itself in the second goal and despite Sterling being offside and impeding Heaton, that was allowed to stand as well and it was soon 3-0.
An absolute and utter shambles, and VAR once again takes the headlines through incompetence.
