Aston Villa rescued a deserved 1-1 draw away to Stoke City on Saturday afternoon and some supporters were delighted with the performance of Kortney Hause. The 23-year-old struggled on his debut in mid-January but has impressed ever since his return to the starting eleven in February.
Hause has made four appearances since joining on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers and is staking his claim for the Midlands outfit to trigger his buying option this summer. The defender, who can operate at left-back and centre-back, was lauded by fans on social media for proving his critics wrong.
Kortney Hause, imagine writing him off after *hearing* one game, very solid again today #AVFC

#avfc got stronger as the game went on – but for Butland’s late save from Mings, we might’ve secured a deserved three points for our second half show. Clinical finish from Adomah, Conor much improved. Hause and El Ghazi deserve mention. Mings quality from the get go 👏🏻👏🏻. #utv

Mings and Hause have been great signings, shame about Carroll. I really hope we can get Kodija, Tammy and Adomah firing and then get Mcginn and Grealish back in. Tuanzebe RB if he is returning soon. Need some confidence in the team going into nxt season #avfc #vtid

I really like Hause at left back. Starting to come into his own in that position. #AVFC

Not sure Kortney Hause is a left-back long term, but he has looked pretty good in recent weeks. #avfc

Kortney Hause is proving me wrong slowly. I really didn’t expect much from him, but he’s really impressed me in the last couple of games. #AVFC

Villa still have a problem with conceding goals in the Championship. Only Ipswich Town (57) and Rotherham United (54) have a worse defensive record than Smith’s side, but Hause has been a positive in recent weeks. He’s keeping Neil Taylor out of the starting eleven on merit and is growing into his role.
Against Stoke, the former England u21 international won 10 aerial duels, made three clearances, two successful dribbles and created a chance. He 66% of his crosses found a teammate at the Britannia Stadium and he made 59 passes with 80% accuracy.
