Great Villa Memories

Firstly….I have had many many a great Villa memory….in all my time supporting the club….but today was something sublime..and emotional…..

I was sat in the directors box and before taking up my seat….my day started out with meeting the chairman and general Krulak and the 82 winning squad…all of them…..

The atmosphere was electric…..and I was fortunate to have my picture taken (thanks Tony Morley) with Ian Taylor and the European cup….just as the 82 squad were preparing to take to the field…

I went to my seat and witnessed a most momentous occasion…as each of the 82 squad was introduced before they paraded the cup…..
But the most touching moment was still to come…..

The players paraded the trophy….went up to the holte….took some pictures…and when the ceremony was done….Mortimer took the trophy…walked off the pitch….and went straight to Jonathan Fear…..as if he was saying…..’This is yours too Jon’.

I don’t know what he said to Jon…but he was there long enough for people around me to ask who it was that Dennis went up to with the trophy…..absolutely fantastic…and I felt personally proud that my mate was at the end of a most fantastic gesture….

Top marks to Dennis…and Jon.

At half time…..The General asked me where Jon was….and I pointed to him where he was sitting behind the dugout…..and I believe…a few moments later….General Krulak went over to say hello to the Fear…..

This day will long be remembered for the full house and 40 000 scarf waving fans…but our own Jonathan Fear will remember a little more than the rest of us…

I will be attending Mondays gala evening before flying back to SA on Tuesday…..and today I saw the beginning of a bright future….

It further reminded me why flying thousands of miles a few times a year is really worth the while…..for Aston Villa have a very bright future ahead…..and one we should all want to be part of…..

oh…and incidentally….we won 3 Nil…!!
