Former Bournemouth skipper Tommy Elphick didn’t have the best of times at Aston Villa following his arrival. A mix of our form, some individual mistakes and ultimately injury did for him with everything that was going on in the background – but his general attitude certainly saw fans wish him well when he departed.

Now playing for Huddersfield Town following the expiry of his contract with us, he’s made 14 appearances for them so far this season but the 31-year-old is set for another lengthy spell on the sidelines following a serious injury sustained in their game against Preston North End.

Having undergone scans and assessments, the club confirmed he was now set for knee surgery on Monday having sustained ligament damage, and it’s fair to say Elphick is less than impressed, as ultimately surgery will define how long he spends on the sidelines.

Obviously he received positive messages from fans of his current club, but plenty of Villa fans were quick to acknowledge his disappointment.
