Brad Guzan has said that our performance against Man United is proof that the club is heading in the right direction again, but we aren’t quite there yet.

Speaking to the Official Site while people bore themselves during the international break, Guzan said of our performance:

‘I thought the performance against Manchester United was a good indicator of where we’re heading. I think it’s a sign of things to come. We want to create something special and the manager wants to do that too. I feel the pieces of the jigsaw are starting to be put in place, it will take time but we’re on the right road definitely.’

Guzan was also pleased that the team really gave the fans something to shout about during the game, and he knows the fans are responding to the ‘desire, determination and real attacking philosophy’ we are now starting to show during games:

‘We’re improving all the time. We’re starting to create an identity as a team, we know it’s not going to happen overnight but it was good for the fans to see that performance. They were pleased with our display in terms of the effort and ability on show from all the players. When you walk off the pitch after a game against Manchester United feeling that you could and should have gotten a result, is a good sign. The fans were absolutely tremendous, we gave them something to cheer about.’

Again, clearly we aren’t there yet but it was an improved performance where more did click than in previous games, so with the confidence boost that should’ve given everybody then at least that’s the type of effort we should now see on a more consistent basis, and then the results will follow.
