Marlon Harewood has vowed to continue pushing for his first team opportunities following his first league goal for Villa last week.

Harewood has made just 6 appearances in a claret and blue shirt since his move from West Ham, largely ignored for the shining talent that is Luke “shrugger” Moore. This hasn’t however effected Marlon, who has admitted he is more determined to do his best for the club, be it first team or for the reserves.

Speaking to avfc.co.uk the striker said: ‘It’s all about taking my chances. That’s the same for any striker – or any player really. If you haven’t been in the frame for a few weeks and suddenly you’re thrown back in, you have to go out there and do your best to stay in there.

‘If you’re doing well and the manager’s watching, he’ll chuck you in and give you a chance to show what you can do.’

Good on you Marlon, you’re my hero!
