Aston Villa’s 100% record to the start of the 2018/19 Championship campaign fell away this weekend as we made the trip to Portman Road to face Ipswich Town.

A largely poor to average showing from Villa was the undoing on the day. We bossed possession with them reduced to ten men in the first half but with another error seeing them draw level at 1-1, we just simply didn’t do enough to capitalise and take all three points.

Although Jonathan Kodjia and John McGinn probably take the plaudits for the goal, according to Whoscored Jack Grealish was once again our star man on the day.

The 22-year-old didn’t get an effort on target but he boasted five key passes, as pass accuracy rate of 82.8% and he even got a defensive clearance in to give him a rating of 7.86. As a comparison, Kodjia was given 7.27 overall with McGinn 7.25 and Mile Jedinak in fourth place with 7.23.

A disappointing day all round but Grealish has certainly started adding greater consistency to his game and that is a definite positive.
