The Daily Mail are reporting that we have rejected a £10m offer from Stoke City for James Chester.
Columnist Simon Jones says that we have told the Potters that the Welshman is not for sale at any price, and we could now offer the defender a contract extension.
I asked fans whether Chester should be sold due to Financial Fair Play, but a massive majority think we should keep the centre-back at the club:
It would be a huge statement from Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens if they do secure our no.5 to a new contract. His leadership qualities make him the perfect player to be the next captain, and you can’t underestimate his importance to the team.
Of course, we can’t ignore FFP. £30m to £40m will have to be found from somewhere, and regrettably, I think a large slice of that will have to come from the sale of Jack Grealish.
