With a 1-0 victory secured at the Riverside Stadium on Saturday in the Championship Play-off semi-final, Mile Jedinak’s goal gives Villa a narrow advantage as we host Middlesbrough later this evening.

At 1-0 it’s obviously all still to play for, but with that deficit, Tony Pulis is going to have to do something he’s not really used to – plan to attack as if they want to sit back, so can we as 0-0 does it for us and this game is not about being pretty, it’s about being productive.

Middlesbrough clearly have goals in the side, but so do we, this one is either going to be tense and tight or it’ll turn end to end with each side looking for the goals that count.

However it plays out, come the full-time whistle we just need one extra goal than them in our column for the night to be considered a roaring success and given Pulis couldn’t stop talking about us during his time at West Bromwich Albion, well it would be kind of sweet to end his season with a double victory wouldn’t it.

With plenty of former players sending their well wishes after the weekend’s game, fans reacted with joy to one man’s words in particular…

Some will be biting their fingernails, others might be drinking copious amounts of alcohol…just make sure you’re capable of watching come that first whistle tonight!
