Villa are being linked with and have confirmed they are in talks with Danish club Aalborg for striker Nicklas Helenius.

The angle of the reports so far in the press are that we are lining up a replacement for Christian Benteke, and the 22 year old fits the bill and has previously been described as the ‘new Ibrahimovic’.

Apparently West Brom and Norwich have been looking at him, but a statement on the Official Site read:

‘Aston Villa can confirm that the Club are in negotiations with Aalborg BK for the transfer of Danish forward Nicklas Helenius. The Club expects to conclude the deal, subject to a medical and personal terms, in the next 10 days.’

This is Villa, so for such a positive statement to be made the deal must be nigh on concrete.

The striker scored 16 league goals for his club last season.

A replacement for Benteke, I just really don’t see it this season, another option and somebody who has bedded in when next season a Benteke departure is far more likely, seems the sensible option for me.
