Lee Hendrie has apparently turned down a move to Premiership new boys Sheffield United but could possibly move to Steve Coppell’s Reading instead.
Reading player Steve Sidwell is on the verge of a move away from the Madejski Stadium and Coppell has targeted Villa midfielder Lee Hendrie as a possible replacement.
Coppell hasn’t given up on keeping the 23-year-old midfielder, who has just one year left on his contract, but the player has reportedly turned down a £16 000 a week offer and looks set to leave.
Hendrie has been linked to Wolverhampton Wanderers, West Bromwich, Southampton and Portsmouth, as well as Sheffield United who were keen to take the 29-year-old to Bramall Lane only for his wage requirements to scupper the move. ‘Scupper’, not a word used enough is it!?
