The Sunday Mirror carried a story last weekend claiming that Lee Hendrie is once again in hot water having told a wheelchair bound supporter to get out of his wheelchair.

The paper said that Hendrie ‘made offensive gestures and taunted’ one-legged Manchester united fan Andy Wild’

Wild explained: ‘Someone among the home supporters next to the disabled area called Hendrie a w*****. Whoever said that should not have done it but it is the kind of thing that happens all the time in football. Hendrie reacted to it, and shouted insults back. As the abuse went back and forth, I think Angel had had enough because he walked back to the dugout. I then called out to Hendrie, ‘You’re a professional footballer, you should be able to rise above it and you should know better’.

Hendrie then allegedly said: ‘Why don’t you get out of your wheelchair?’

Wild continued: ‘I was too shocked to say anything else but if I could have got out of my wheelchair I would. Hendrie then turned his back on the crowd, bent over, put his hand between his legs and patted his backside in an insulting gesture.’

Doesn’t sound at all like Lil’ Lee does it? 🙁

Wild has now complained and the police are looking into the matter.

The Mirror said: Officers questioned Andy about the incident at his home in Sale, Greater Manchester. They then told Aston Villa bosses they want to speak to Hendrie. Phil Downes, chairman of the National Disabled Supporters’ Association, said: ‘If it’s proved true, it is abhorrent. Aston Villa must take action against him. Any disabled supporter has to surmount more hurdles than most fans.’

An Aston Villa spokesman said last night: ‘Lee Hendrie denies these allegations.’

I hope this isn’t true, I really do, but if it is I hope Hendrie is not only sacked but also one day gets to find out what it is like being disabled, maybe he’d think twice then. As said, I REALLY hope this isn’t true but his past record isn’t exactly great is it? Having not even made the bench this weekend in the match against Watford, you have to wonder what prompted him to be dropped after only returning as a sub the week before. Not convinced his testimonial is exactly going to be a sell out if held are you?

Would be good for Hendrie to come out publicly and deny this as quickly as possible.
