Martin O’Neill will apparently decide today whether he is going to re-call Lee Hendrie from his loan at Stoke or allow him to stay at the Potters.

Villa were low on bodies last weekend against Wigan with Gavin McCann suspended and Stiliyan Petrov picking up a hamstring injury so Hendrie is on standby if Petrov isn’t fit in time for the game against Middlesbrough.

As we’ve reported before, the 29-year-old has a 24-hour recall clause in his contract.

O’Neill said: ‘I will have a look at that. I’ll have a look on Thursday to see whether we have Gavin back, and hoe Stiliyan Petrov is, and those type of things. Not that Lee would be twisting my arm to say that he should be automatically back in the team again when he comes back, don’t worry about that.’

‘But what you wouldn’t want is that he is on a run there at the minute, and then to take him back and not have the benefit of those things in maybe 10 or 12 days time. All of those things will enter into my head, but I will think about it on Thursday.’
