Aston Villa fans always knew Saturday’s Premier League trip to the Etihad Stadium to face reigning Champions Manchester City was always going to be an incredibly tough game for us as we continue adjusting to life back in the top flight.
We certainly didn’t embarrass ourselves in what became a 3-0 defeat on the day and had certain refereeing decisions gone…shall we say, correctly and in line with the laws of the game…maybe we’d have come out at 2-1. Either way, few can say City didn’t deserve their win and although we had our moments and had a couple of good chances on the day, it’s an example of how far we still have to go to really compete again given our slide.
But we knew that already, our journey is still at the beginning.
Jack Grealish didn’t have his best game, but he was still involved as the outlet for most of our better moments and he seemed to have done enough to impress Pep Guardiola, who answered a question post-game about whether Jack was his type of player.
????️ "He is an exceptional player… But too expensive for Manchester City." ???? ????

It’s only a short listen and I’d imagine few will disagree with his words, but whether in jest or not given the way City have appeared to tighten their belts in recent seasons (which sounds ridiculous to say given their spending), I think Villa fans will be on board with the ‘too expensive’ crack given Jack’s importance to us.
He liked it because he called him good. He’s not leaving villa pal ????
