With the summer transfer window now behind us, Aston Villa continue their preparations for the big 2019/20 kickoff as we travel to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday but one big question for fans on deadline day was whether or not we should’ve added another striker to our ranks.

In quotes carried by the Express and Star, head coach Dean Smith clearly didn’t think we needed to as he backed both Jonathan Kodjia and Keinan Davis to make an impression this season when they are called upon.

Stating that he felt the side now had goals ‘all over’ the side given how he wants to set us up this season, he explained that he felt Kodjia’s game was actually more suited to the Premier League than it was the Championship, and if Davis needed a boost of confidence his words about him should do that.

“I feel Jonathan Kodjia’s game is more suited to the Premier League than it was the Championship. I think he can be a big player for us this season. You only have to speak to our players to find out what they think of Keinan Davis. He bullies them in training. I had no qualms in keeping the both of them.”

Obviously, Smith has a clear idea of how we are going to play this year, and we just have to enjoy the ride.
