Aston Villa duo Dean Smith and Jack Grealish had special reason to be celebrating on Monday evening as we booked our place back in the Premier League with a 2-1 Championship Play-Off Final victory over Derby County and the scenes at the fulltime whistle (and beyond) will stay in the memories of fans for a long time I’m sure.

I’m sure we all have our own favourite moments and favourite comments from the plethora of interviews and video clips doing the rounds in the media and particularly on social media, whether it be the future King of England’s celebration with John Carew, the faces of our new owners, Smith and Jack celebrating together or even Tyrone Mings not even bothering to get changed and just wearing his kit for what seemed like the rest of the night.

With Jack Grealish’s growth and development both on and off the pitch this year, making sure James Chester was front of stage for lifting the trophy I thought was an extremely classy touch again showing just how much he’s matured this year.

Speaking to the Official Site after the game, he explained.

“I had to bring Chezzie up with me. The likes of Chezzie, they all played as big a part as John McGinn, Tammy Abraham and myself. What they have done should not have gone unnoticed. I said to Chezzie before the game – without jinxing it – ‘if – and it’s a big if – we win, you’re coming up with me’. He’s the club captain and deserved it.”

A fantastic spirit in the squad and although we’ll undoubtedly see some changes this summer, we have to ensure we keep that as it’s massive moving forward. Chester wasn’t the only player enjoying the celebrations either and that was good to see as well.
