Highly rated Aston Villa midfielder Jake Doyle-Hayes had a mixed spell out on loan with League Two side Cambridge United in the campaign of 2018/19, and over the summer he headed out for another spell at that level with Cheltenham Town.

The 20-year-old had featured three times for Villa and added four starts and two substitute showings to his tally at the Abbey Stadium, but he’s definitely hit the ground running at Whaddon Road this season as he’s already got six starts under his belt and he has begun impressing.

With August now in the rearview, Cheltenham have announced the results of their Player of the Month vote, and Doyle-Hayes has stolen the show, picking up 40% to take the first award of the season.

Having been on international duty for the Republic of Ireland Under 21 squad, he should return to their first team setup for their next clash and hopefully he can get himself up and running when it comes to a goal return as September progresses, as he has already provided two assists.

Long may it continue.
