Villa’s youngsters will again return to the annual Hong Kong Soccer Sevens tournament this May.

The club have now confirmed their place at the competition and will appear alongside Leicester, Newcastle, Stoke, West Ham and Atletico Madrid.

New Zealand side Wellington Phoenix will also be in attendance, along with Japanese side Kashima Antlers.

The competition takes place at Hong Kong Football Club between May 20 and May 22.

Villa lifted the main prize in 2002, 2004, 2007, 2008 and 2010 and have taken the other trophies up for grabs in other years as well, when out of the main competition.

Academy director Sean Kimberley is again looking for youngsters to shine in the tournament as names such as Jack Grealish, Marc Albrighton, Gary Cahill, Gabby Agbonlahor, Ciaran Clark and Craig Gardner have all played staring roles and again I’m left shaking my head as I type the words Danny and Johnson who was also player of the tournament a few years back from memory.

‘We are delighted to continue our long association with the Hong Kong Soccer Sevens tournament. It remains an integral part of our football development process. Jack Grealish and Marc Albrighton are two academy graduates among many who have benefited from participating in the Sevens in recent times, and we are look forward to playing our part once again in this high quality event.’
