Aston Villa are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by Scott Hogan in the three one victory over Barnsley at the weekend at Villa Park was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Hogan was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘A quickfire double from Hogan put Aston Villa in the driving seat against Barnsley, and it was a performance which earned the striker the EFL Star of the Day award. Strikes in the fifth and seventh minute set Steve Bruce`s side on their way to all three points and, on a personal note, that`s now four goals in three outings for the former Brentford man.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Hogan for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the points.
