Right back Alan Hutton has said he’d gladly take a scrappy win over Swansea this weekend so Villa could get back to winning ways and start turning our woeful form around once more.
I don’t know about anybody else, I’d take a draw!
Speaking to the Official Site we get the normal and expected lines of being disappointed with our results so far, but that positives can be taken from the spirit within the camp and some of the passages of play our new look B6 side have been putting together, but the main message as you’d expect with seven losses under our belt so far in 2015-16 is that we have to win and win at all costs.
Whether it comes from a dodgy penalty, their keeper throwing it in his own net or off Brad Guzan’s backside it matters not.
‘We’re not where we want to be in the table at the moment. I think we’ve played some good stuff in a lot of the games this season but we just haven’t been getting the results. Most of our matches have been incredibly tight. There’s been nothing in a lot of them. We’re a new team with new players – and we are progressing. I see it every day on the training field.’
Singing the gelling song, Hutton went on to say that obviously we haven’t clicked yet but we have shown signs of what we could be capable of doing, but we lack consistency clearly, but that should come when newbies settle properly and real partnerships and understanding grows on the pitch.
However, he accepts we can’t keep talking about tomorrow.
‘We’re getting more used to each other all the time and I think you’ll see better times ahead for this group of players as the weeks go by. Now though it’s about getting a win. We’re fully focused on three points. That’s all we’re concentrating on. We’d take a poor performance and the win – 100%. It’s less about how we play and more about picking up a good result. We’ll look to do that against a good Swansea team, who will be very tough.’
