Aston Villa kick off a run of tricky fixtures on Saturday as we make the trip to the Eihad Stadium to face Manchester City, and in the space of the next week, we then battle Wolverhampton Wanderers in the fourth round of the EFL Cup, before then hosting Liverpool at Villa Park next weekend.
With back to back wins for head coach Dean Smith, we go into these games in decent spirits though and we continue to show slow improvement, but speaking to the Official Site this week, Jack Grealish promised that the players would be looking for an upset on Saturday to get the ball rolling, but everyone knew how tough a game it would be for us.
“We all know how tough the games are going to be, playing Man City away and then Liverpool at home. They’re the two best teams in the league and could be up there in the world. All of the lads want to play in the Premier League and these are the games you look forward to. I guarantee the guys that have come over from abroad are looking forward to this one the most, playing against Man City and the best players in the world.”
We certainly shouldn’t have any fear, sides far more adjusted to the top flight have come a cropper against Pep Guardiola’s side, but equally, a few have shown they aren’t invincible.
Give it our all, and see what it says at the final whistle.
