With fans torn on John Terry and those concerns being largely irrelevant as he’s now completed (or soon will) a deal with Russian side Spartak Moscow, Aston Villa have also been linked in recent times with a move for former player James Collins.
It was the weekend and new speculation was required to feed the masses and the Mirror duly obliged and went back into the archives for rumours linking us with a move for former Leicester City title winner Robert Huth.
As if by magic, manager Steve Bruce has now turned his attentions to the 34-year-old German, and they suggested that a deal would be done for him before the end of this evening.
I have no idea if there’s any truth to this, Huth isn’t new on the rumour mill is he. If nothing is announced by 8pm though expect well placed ‘sources’ to link us with a return for Carlos Cuellar as he’s without a club at the moment and looking for a new deal as well.
We should have Terry huth and Collins

Agree, will do the job but it’s a job that shouldn’t have needed done. Bruce out.

At this rate Bruce and Calderwood are going to come out of retirement and play there.

All the so called villa fans slating him, surely hes going to do a better job in defence than jedinak is currently doing! Providing Bruce actually plays him as a centre back!

What forward planning this is from Mr spud…4 transfer windows he's had to sort this out..and to only have 1 centre half on our books and 1 loaned is just well… say no more

Hate that we're even in the position that we have to debate which player not signed to any club we should get. #BruceOut

The debate about the decision to let Tommy Elphick leave isn’t going to go away soon as even if Huth arrives and is maybe followed by Collins, we are still woefully short at centre-half in my humble.
