Chris Sutton has been ruled out for ‘several weeks’ with an eye injury putting more pressure on the Villa boss Martin O’Neill as the squad becomes more and more depleted.

O’Neill explained ‘Chris will be out for several weeks, which would be a blow at any time, but it’s made all the worse with our current injury situation. He took a bang to the head against Manchester United last Saturday and was struggling with blurred vision. The only thing we can do with this injury is give him time to rest.’

Time for Juan Pablo Angel and Milan Baros to step up and be counted then? Get in there, get dirty and get some goals please chaps.

UPDATE

New quotes suggest that Sutton will be out for around six weeks. O’Neill said: “Chris will be out for at least six weeks. He went to see the neurosurgeon who told him to rest and make sure everything is okay.”

“He had blurred vision and concussion from early on in the game against Manchester United but played on.”

“It is a big blow to us and to him. The prognosis is that things will get better but while he has got blurred vision he can’t play.”

Be interesting to see if he decides to call it a day, he has had so much bad luck of late with injuries, he did say he wouldn’t hang around if they continued.

Whatever the case, hope he is soon back to full fitness and feeling better.
