With ongoing speculation about former Aston Villa player James Collins, given he remains with us as he continues recovering from injury and the possibility of signing him outside of the window as defensive cover – is Arsenal’s Laurent Koscielny a target for January?

The Birmingham Mail seem to think so as they lean on the most basic of reports from Italy it seems. Not only can I not see this happening on a permanent basis given the money involved, I can’t even see it happening on a loan basis given the money involved.

The 33-year-old Frenchman was a stalwart under former manager Arsene Wenger but he’s yet to make an appearance for new gaffer Unai Emery, but even then it would take a hell of a compromise in my mind.

Arsenal fans are torn on him and Arsenal’s defensive reputation is well known in football but he has over 300 games under his belt and it’s not like he wouldn’t be an option, and dare say an improvement, given his experience.

I’d be amazed.
